How do I test?

London Food Intolerance Testing is a personal, face-to-face service. The testing itself is done with a Dietx electro-dermal screening machine and is not painful, invasive or uncomfortable, nor will it require you to ingest or touch any of the products we are testing.

I will ask you to hold a metal cylinder in your dominant hand whilst food and drink ampoules are placed within the machine’s electromagnetic circuit. Then I’ll use an acupuncture point on your hand to complete the circuit.  If the item does not agree with you it creates an abnormal reading – known as resistance.

What do i test?

I have over 200 food and drink components to test, from all of the major food groups, including dairy, grains, fruits, vegetables, seeds, oils, meats, fishes, alcohols, additives and alcohols. What we test will be determined by your current diet and symptoms.

Who can be tested?

Adults and children aged 3 and over can be tested.

Unfortunately, if an adult has a pacemaker fitted, they cannot be tested. Please contact your doctor about alternative solutions.

How long will the test take?

First appointment

For an adult a first appointment will take around one and a half hours to complete. For a child, it will take around 75 minutes. This time includes:

  • Discussion of your overall health and reasons for wanting the test

  • Testing what you eat and drink

  • The results

  • Advice on eliminating problem foods and substitutes you can have instead

Retest

A food intolerance follow up test can be undertaken from 6 months after your initial test. Here we will look to retest foods you’ve previously had a problem with, or to check issues with new foods that you think have developed, as well as ensuring the food or product elimination is on track and working to your benefit. A retest will take between 45-60 minutes to complete.

What should you bring with you?

I have a large number of foods and drinks so most people bring nothing with them for the test. However if you have any less common foods that you eat regularly and would like to be tested for, feel free to bring a small sample.

If you regularly use any of the following please bring with you:

  • Medications

  • Vitamins and minerals

  • Protein shakes

  • Slimming aids – bars, shakes or tablets

If you have issues with headaches, your skin or symptoms such as sneezing, coughing or nasal drip you are also welcome to bring:

  • Your washing powder/liquid

  • Fabric conditioner

  • Any perfumes, deodorants or body sprays

  • Soap, shower or bath gels

  • Moisturisers or make up

  • Fake tan or sun cream

  • Shampoo and conditioner

There will be time to test up to 10 of your own products.
